"Pocahaunted formed in the early fall of 2006, since then the Eagle Rock sisterhood have blazed a fast path through the DIY/psych underground, evolving as quickly as their eBay-coveted cassettes and LPs sell out. Comprised of Not Not Fun Records art-designer Amanda Brown on vocals/dancing, Sun Araw main-man Cameron Stallones on organ, Diva Dompe on bass/vocals, NNF co-captain Britt Brown on guitar, and LA staple Ged Gengras on drums, Pocahaunted's whirlwind voodoo live performances range from hypnotizing 4AD/Cocteau Twins cloudbanks to thundering afro-punk freak-outs. They've played with everyone from Sonic Youth to MV & EE to Yellow Swans to Ponytail to Religious Knives to Vivian Girls." - Upset the Rhythm

ALEX & SAM 9p
JUDSON AND MARY 10p
FIERCE CREATURES 8p

ALEX & SAM
"Silverlake's Alex & Sam are one of LA's latest outfits that can only be described as "clever comfort music." Down-tempo though absolutely never dull, this duo (backed by an ensemble not limited to bass, drums, accordion, organ, Wurlitzer, Fender Rhodes, and harp) have influences ranging from string-heavy Nick Drake ("Starting Something New") to the likes of Rosie Thomas and sophomore-album Norah Jones ("See You Through") spewing out its creative pores. Though unique in its throwback appeal, their sound isn't so familiar and doesn't contain a single trace of new-folk condescension. Alex & Sam's writing personality gives the indie scene a well-deserved beating by paying tribute to simplicity with substance, and without the irony that is often associated to unplugged groups. Trading off lead vocals though never forgetting to plug in those lush harmonies, Alex Silverman and Samantha Sidley are a duo of massive musicality; and while it's likely that their Berklee School of Music chops could blow anyone away, it seems that their aim is in refining the art of restraint in a pop-melodic avenue. Mission beyond accomplished. Pure, unfiltered, and a poster group in the definition of true talent, Alex & Sam are one of the matchless gems that this town has luck in claiming its own. Feeling left out? Catch "Sounds Like This: Part One," their latest EP available on iTunes now." - Hugo Gomez, The Deli LA

MICHAEL RUNION
Michael Runion is a tall buck toothed mexican kid from Ventura, CA, who has spent the last decade in Los Angeles, CA. He sings and write songs, but you shouldn't think of him as a singer songwriter. You're better off regarding him as a writer, or a musician. Either way, he sings soft and pretty, but he himself is not soft and pretty. Which isn't to say he's tough, either. He's somewhere between soft and tough. Sensitive and rough? That's where he and his music live.

EVEREST
While one can draw some clues from the folks they've toured with - Neil Young, Wilco, My Morning Jacket - ultimately Everest is simply a great rock 'n' roll band in the classic, open-minded mold.

"This fivesome channel the American greats in dusty acoustic ballads with searing electric riffs and poetic lyrics about wide-open spaces and love lost. And with vet session musician Russell Pollard (Sebadoh, the Folk Implosion, the Watson Twins) at the forefront, Everest put on an excellent, emotive show -- a festival must!" - Spin

"Orphaned, creatively malnourished and looking for a place to stay, the five men of Everest recently gained entry into a very, very fine house. Inside, an adoptive father led them to the kitchen and offered them something far more caloric than bread and far sweeter than wine. This sagacious Daddy Warbucks, none other than rock patriarch Neil Young, reached from within and doled out a rare nugget of wisdom." - Filter Magazine

SOFI BONDE
A few things about me! I'm a Swedish singer/ songwriter. At 17 I moved to Paris. While in France I recorded my first demo that led to a Record Deal back in Sweden and my debut album 'One' was released. We did good but I thought or hoped I could do better...!! I moved to London to develop as a songwriter... and then to New York where I wrote and recorded my second album 'Fighting Gravity'. I stayed in New York and tried getting a deal but there were just empty offers... Broke (and heart broken too) I went back home to try to release it in Sweden. Just as I had moved everything back home again I got an offer to do a reality show in LA based upon a Swedish singer trying to make it in America. I went for it! But soon enough I realized it was not for me. I just didn't feel like the person they wanted me to be...but it brought me to a sunny LA and I decided to stay! Instead of being in a reality show I ended up placing my songs on all those shows (The Hills, The City, Laguna Beach, Newport Harbor). Actually almost everything I had written and things started to look a lot brighter. Normally good things come with even better things and I finally got my first offer from Atlantic Records. I think America is still a land where dreams come true... you just have to give it some time and not give up even when that seems like the only option... I promise it isn't!

Of all of life's continuous and recurrent lessons, the unpredictability of outcomes remains one closest to our heart: we try, we fail, we succeed unbeknownst, or fail blatantly only to be proven happier and stronger for our once deemed losses. DARKER MY LOVE
Informed by profound personal tragedy, Alive As You Are is the Los Angeles-based band's most musically focused and emotionally direct collection to date. Songs like "June Bloom" and "Dear Author" see DML traveling away from their trademark psychedelic power drones to a more evocative approach reliant on bold, straightforward songcraft and earthy, intricate arrangements. The band's third Dangerbird Records album, Alive As You Are marks an extraordinary reinvention for Darker My Love - a rambling, powerfully realized work of great nuance and even greater heart.

His album 'Culdesac' hits the Internet. The album has already been downloaded more than 10,000 times, garnering no small amount of buzz among rap and hipster blognoscenti. Mixing b-boy braggadocio and cunning wordplay, it details a specific worldview with numerous references to being a social outcast, experiencing trouble with women, getting punked out while growing up, as well as Glover's mom's abiding concern that he'll turn into "the black Heath Ledger." The story of Agent Ribbons has not one - but many - beginnings, and fashioning some semblance of chronology from their cut-and-paste four-year history is an art project in and of itself. Originally hailing from the shanty-Victorian streets of downtown Sacramento, they now reside in Austin, TX when they aren't traveling the world jamming econo. Agent Ribbons isn't just a band - It's a tree house club of post-feminist dreamers trying to find their place in the scheme of things, like a hand-sewn and lovingly-crafted garment in a modern, disposable world.

Their broad appeal is unique. They are championed by the underground record-collector type of music fan, as well as by high-profile musicians such as Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips and Chris Martin of Coldplay. Black Mountain's live performances and recordings retain that universal appeal, sticking readily to the ribs of most any music fan. The Submarines weave together themes drawn from their immediate surroundings and experience: the garden outside, and the push and pull of life and love inside. Their influences range from old-school dub, to intricately layered electronica, to vintage pop. While some songs started with a traditional guitar-in-hand approach, many began with instrumental tracks composed by Dragonetti, which Hazard then completed with words and melody, drawing on each of the their musical strengths.

"Blake Hazard and John Dragonetti, who are the Submarines, hooked up, broke up, wrote songs about each other and then got married... Coupledom in indie rock has a special patina, an unrivaled potency." - LA Weekly

THE FUNERAL PARTY 10:30p

THE FUNERAL PARTY
Funeral Party is a five-piece band that formed late one night in a park.   The band quickly developed a following and a D.I.Y. ethos that encapsulated East Los Angeles' rich musical history. Initially, the band didn't even own equipment and had to borrow it from bands they played with at East Los Angeles backyard parties and warehouses. Funeral Party quickly achieved a mythic stature in the Los Angeles underground. Lars Stalfors, engineer for Mars Volta, invited the band to record in Volta's studio in East L.A.   What is unique about Funeral Party is the band's universal appeal; there exist numerous infusions in their music. This band is crucially important as they have created a visceral music that encapsulates the experiences of contemporary youth. Funeral Party's sound is shaped by disparate realities, manifested in the band's musical approach.

"I'd never heard anything like them before.  They were so eclectic in the music choices, something like a combination of folk indie rock and the Beach Boys.  I was fascinated.  They were [Ben Folds'] favorite, too." - Keith Lockhart, Conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra

"A collective that's equally comfortable harmonizing on '70s-style Hollywood Hills piano rock as it is churning out urgent, high-tech indie pop."  - SPIN.com

"They're like the Mamas and the Papas on acid."  - Steven Tyler

EL TEN ELEVEN 10:30p
BATHS 9:30p
SISTER CRAYON 8:30p

EL TEN ELEVEN
El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles-based instrumental indie rock duo consisting of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty. The densely textured, atmospheric instrumental sounds of their first two full-length albums have been praised alongside the work of such post-rock elite as Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai and Sigur Rós. What really separates El Ten Eleven from their musical peers is that they are only two musicians on stage creating pounding landscapes of sound with no laptops or sequencers.

This is a duo of road-warriors who have built up their fan-base the old fashioned way: by getting out on the road and touring their asses off. They have looped around America more times than they can remember and at each show, new members of the El Ten Eleven faithful are conceived.

JAIL WEDDINGS ("Love is Lawless" Record Release) 11:30p

JAIL WEDDINGS
Jail Weddings have taken on the burden of being the 10-member-deep spokespeople for this unique musical atmosphere. With the end of his post-Starvations project Fortune's Flesh, singer/guitarist/songwriter Gabriel Hart has gathered like-minded adventurers (including fellow members of The Starvations, Flash Express, The Sun, Grand Elegance, Terrors, plus some noteworthy newcomers) to round out the line-up of his new outfit, which has mastered an updated take on the darker side of the '60s pop/R&B/vocal corner with the unshakable swamp-punk leanings The Starvations were known for, all combined with the sheen of a certain grandiose mean-streak mutant torch song drama.

"...music that is mind-blowing.   Along with Shawn Foree and Ryan Adams, it doen't get much better." - Garage Punk Hideout

CULPRIT 10p

CULPRIT
Anyone can play sugary, watered down pop music. Aggressive, riffy rock is also just as easy to come by. But Culprit? These boys march to the beat of their own drum while mixing experimental songwriting with a pop sensibility in creating an invigorating musical experience. Their latest effort, "Redeemer," is the perfect blend of chord-driven rock and ambient, dreamy breakdowns - perfect for any atmosphere. Not only does Culprit exceed the musical standard by leaps and bounds, they will also warm your heart with their undeniable charm and wit. Spend a day with Culprit, and you'll feel like a newborn kitten.

TUNNG
"Imagine Syd Barrett conducting The Beta Band while Win Butler potters around in the background... Unadulterated genius - we're practically drooling." - NME

"Well-crafted blend of grainy electronics, organic percussion (which evidently includes such instruments as twigs, teeth and seashells), snatches of sampled dialogue, and traditional British folk." - Pitchfork
