About

Presenting fiercely original music and events since April 17, 1997

“Unfailingly great taste in indie rock bands and singer-songwriters.” – Prefix

“The Fold continually books bands on the brink, jolting LA’s burgeoning underground music scene to new levels of visibility.” Flavorpill LA

“Thank The Fold for the difference it has made in the music scene and for all these great memories… Rufus Wainwright’s first L.A. shows. Ditto for Bright Eyes, Mates of State, Mirah, Trail of Dead, and countless others… The first time we saw BRMC… Elliott Smith after one of his unbilled shows (the most heartbreaking performance we’ve ever seen)… to name a few.” – LA Underground

We take pride in finding, incubating, and showcasing new music, whether local, national, or international. The Fold continually scours L.A’s tinsel-strewn streets in order to present the finest in new music such as locals Meg Myers, Kitten, Harriet, Races, Grouplove, Local Natives, Tom Brosseau, Ditty Bops, Cold War Kids, Bird and the Bee, Silversun Pickups, Autolux, Earlimart, Metric, B.R.M.C., and Devendra Banhart as well as being the first L.A. club to host acts such as Jessie Ware, Emile Sande, Lianne La Havas, The Head and The Heart, The Kills, Broken Bells, Mates of State, Rufus Wainwright, Vampire Weekend, Pinback, Bright Eyes, Black Heart Procession, Deerhoof, My Morning Jacket, TV on the Radio, Polyphonic Spree, Fiery Furnaces, and Broken Social Scene among what must be at least three thousand more! Not to mention memorable shows from The Rapture, …Trail of Dead, Elliott Smith, Band of Skulls, The Breeders, Neko Case, and Jonathan Richman just to name names.

We now present shows at Bootleg Theater and a number of other Los Angeles locales big and small, chic and not even close to chic, but each with their own unique charms.
