Young Empires are a new Canadian 3-piece that has garnered international critical acclaim and since their inception in October 2009. NME Magazine compared Young Empires' sound to the likes of The Killers, Arcade Fire, Yeasayer, and Foals. Defined by swirling synthesizer tones, fervent bass rhythms, and soulful guitar licks, Young Empires deliver fresh, yet distinguished dance tracks full of swagger, sexuality, and occasionally a little angst.
A long with music blogs, Young Empires have also been well-received in the fashion world including a feature in Dazed & Confused Magazine. Their song "Glory of the Night" was released on Parisian fashion/music label Kitsune Maison 10. Another track "Against the Wall" has been featured on a viral fashion video for Nylon TV.
Young Empires' still young career highlights include international performances in London, Paris, Stockholm, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Bogota, Toronto, and Montreal. They've supported acts such as Jamiroquai, Chromeo, Dragonette,
Japandroids, Girl Talk, Sleigh Bells, Jamaica, and Tanlines. Young Empires' live performance at the NXNE Festival was named in the top 10 out of over 500 bands.
The trio is also distinguished for their production skills and been commissioned to remix major label singles for Geffen
and Kitsune Records. Their home demo recordings have charted on FM4 Radio (Germany) and two separate home
demos have reached the top 15 on HypeMachine's charts; a feat that earned them a spot on the HypeMachine
showcase at CMJ this year.
With their debut EP, Wake All My Youth, dropping in early 2012 on Pirates Blend Records Young Empires are poised to deliver on many reviewers predictions as one of the top new artists to watch.

Humans - (Set time: 10:00 PM)

Manuel Aparicio who performs under the name of "Humans" resides in Fresno, California. He has been DJing and throwing dance related events as cofounder of CLASSY KIDS since June of 2010. Yet, Manuel's musical and promotional background goes back to his early teens. Aside from CLASSY KIDS he is also a resident DJ at Fresno's The Express Night Club. There, Humans performs along with others every second and fourth Saturdays, the annual night is called Function. Humans sets are mostly a smooth collection of Electro, House, and Disco, but are surprisingly not limited to these genres.
Kiven - (Set time: 9:00 PM)

Tyler Demorest, Danny Schnair, and Matt Cohen, known collectively as Kiven, hail from the smog-swept city of Los Angeles. While their musical influences have undoubtedly come from a wide array of musical and artistic spectrums, this trifecta ultimately blends together to create the band’s unique and personal sound. The band released their first EP, Two In The Same, in 2010 while still studying in school, and then followed with STEP in the spring of 2012, featuring their hard-hitting single, “Release.” Shortly after their sold out CD Release Show at the Bootleg Theatre in Silverlake, Kiven has continued to pack venues in the Los Angeles area on a nightly basis. Following the initial momentum and direction of sound from STEP (their previous EP), the recently released EP, "1840" continues to progress forward both sonically and emotively, reflecting Kiven's musical and personal growth. The tracks off of 1840 build in a more organic sense and with a naturally touching pull on the listener with pocket drums, grooving bass lines, hard hitting guitars, soaring vocals and lush harmonies. With the excitement of their new single, "Hope & Smoke", which reached #11 on Hype Machine and was featured on Indie Shuffle and Red Bull Soundstage, Kiven made their East Coast debut in New York for CMJ 2012 as an official artist – playing a handful of showcases including The Deli Mag, Audio Perv and a handful of other buzz-worthy CMJ bills. Shortly after, Entertainment Weekly went on to name Kiven as the #2 "Great Indie Discovery" from CMJ 2012.
