Jenny Owen Youngs, singer/songwriter and natural history enthusiast, grew up in the forests of northern New Jersey and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. Her new record, “An Unwavering Band of Light,” finds Jenny knee-deep in crunchy rock guitars, whispery string quartets, and a mixed bag of bizarre-o percussion... in other words, precisely where she wants to be.
She has toured extensively through the US, UK, and mainland Europe, both as headliner and support to artists such as Regina Spektor, Motion City Soundtrack, Aimee Mann, Kevin Devine, and Amanda Palmer. Her songs have been heard on Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Privileged, Life Unexpected, Switched at Birth, and in Victoria's Secret stores the world over. Her spirit animals are Johnny Cash, Kate Bush, Tom Waits and Jack White.
“Funny, smart and quirky. A truly unconventional singer-songwriter.” - Rita Houston for NPR
“Honey-throated vocals and a deft ability to write both memorable hooks and saturnine ballads… Irresistible, infectious.” - Absolute Punk
“Best music I’ve heard.” - USA Today

Little Hurricane - (Set time: 10:00 PM)

Based in Southern California, little hurricane is a dirty blues/rock outfit born by way of North Park, San Diego. The band was formed in early 2010 when guitarist Tone met drummer CC thru an ad on Craigslist. Oddly enough they both lived on the same street and had a similar background in jazz band. They found a common interest in unique and vintage equipment and a love of grimey, down and dirty blues. An old nightstand transformed into a speaker cabinet, vintage lamps, and ratty suitcases turned instruments are just a few of the things you can expect to grace the stage alongside little hurricane. The band released their debut album HOMEWRECKER, in April of 2011, and are currently touring the West Coast.
Rene Breton - (Set time: 9:00 PM)

Rene Breton combines surrealist imagery with lush melodic harmony. Their single "Botswana" was featured as KCRW's song of the day, they have been featured on KROQ's Jonesey's Jukebox, and their album Asleep in Green (March 2011) is book of twelve surrealist short stories released in conjunction with the music. They've been compared to The Smiths, Pink Floyd, and Peter Gabriel.
